Darwin Nunez Rescues Liverpool's Sinking Ship
Jurgen Klopp's side showed an impressive resilience at St. James Park to win against Newcastle despite their captain Virgil Van Dijk getting a straight red card in the 28th minute.
Newcastle broke the deadlock two minutes before Van Dijk's sent off with a goal from Anthony Gordon following an horror show from Trent Alexander-Arnold who missed a pass from Mo Salah to gift the Magpies with a goal.
The reds looked more vulnerable as Newcastle pushed them to the wall forcing Allison to make some best saves of the match keeping the visitors in the game.
They were at the brink of losing all the three points until the 81st minute when substitute Darwin Nunez pulled one back with a quality finish before sealing the deal with another a million dollar finish in the 93rd minute to give Liverpool a 2-1 win.
However the dreadful nature of the reds defense is something of a concern and they will have to look for a solution if they are to contest for the league title.
Liverpool manager, during the pre-match press conference looked really frustrated when asked about the quality and depth of hid defense line but this was proven during the match as they continued to 'receive fire' from Newcastle.
For the second game in a row, the Reds have managed to recover from making silly mistakes at the back but soon or later they will be made to pay for it.
Liverpool appeared grim to defeat but the Uruguayan sub turned the game around perhaps he should be a regular start.
The reds will play Aston Villa on Sunday at Anfield while Newcastle will travel to Brighton on Saturday.
