Ten Man Westham Humbles Chelsea In London Derby

Mauricio Pochettino's side lost their first match of the new season in a highly contested London derby.

The blues went down a goal with only seven minutes played at the London stadium when Nayef Aguerd headed James Ward-Prowse corner past Chelsea's keeper to give the hammers the lead.

Carney Chukwuemeka scored the equalizer to give the visitors some hope but Enzo Fernandez missed a shot to put the blues ahead when he failed to convert a penalty after Rahim Sterling was brought down in the box. This was the first time Enzo missed a penalty in his career.

The host added a second goal thanks to a floppy defense and errors which lead to Michail Antonio powerful shot past Sanchez. The cherry on top of a farcical cake came when Chelsea most expensive signing Moises Caicedo conceded a late penalty in the dying minutes of the game, sluggishly bringing Emerson down with Lucas Paqueta converting from the spot to seal a 3-1 win.

Despite the lost Rahim Sterling reminded everyone how good he is giving David Moyes side headaches on the left back with his pace and dribbling.

Westham will visit Brighton on Saturday in their  next league campaign while Chelsea will welcome Luton at Stamford bridge on Friday night.

Elsewhere Aston Villa thrashed Everton 4-0 in another premier league match.

Todays fixture

Crystal palace host Arsenal tonight at 10 pm in another London derby.
