Spain Hammers Costa Rica 7-0

 Luis Enrique side dominated Costa Rica in their world cup opener scoring 7-0 .

The spanish were by far a better side from the kick off whistle playing the " tiki -taka" style.

Danny Almo only waited 10 minutes before drawing the first blood after outsmarting the Costa Rican defence and chiping the ball over goalkeeper Keilor Navas to give La Roja the much deserved lead .

Ten minutes later, Marco Asensio timed a run into the box perfectly to connect powerfully with a Jordi Alba cross to make it two nill.

Ferran Torres stroked home his penalty in the 31st minute after Jodi alba was taken down in the 18 yard box to make it 3-0 .

Costa rica didn't record a single attempt at goal by the half time mark and they needed the break to regroup.However Torres claimed his second goal just 9 minutes after the break to make it 4-0 for spain after an hesitant defending.

Gavi, the youngest player to represent Spain at a World Cup, struck with a perfectly hit volley in the 74th minute before substitutes Carlos Soler and Alvaro Morata rounded off a totally one-sided encounter.

Other matches. 

Belgium survived against Canada with a narrow 1-0 win thanks to Mitchy Batshuayi's strike.

Canada seemed like they had Beligium number , outplaying and giving them so many threats at goal .

The planets second best team(Belgium)looks ordinary against Canada who made their come back to the biggest stage with great energy ready to rumble.

Alfonso Davies had his penalty saved by Thibaut Courtois in the fist half just when Canadians looks like they were going to lead.

Croatia were held in a goaless draw by Morocco in a highly contested match.

Germany suffered a surprising upset when they lost 2-1 to Japan.

The Germans scored the first goal of the match in the first half with Ikay Gundogan converting a penalty but Japanese were resilient with a comeback to end the match 2-1.

Today's fixture 

Switzerland vs Cameroon at 1pm.

Uruguay vs south Korea at 4pm.

Portugal vs Ghana at 7pm.

Brazil vs Serbia at 10pm.

The World Cup of shocks continued on Friday as wily Croatia dumped favourites Brazil out on penalties. Brazil are gone, out of the World Cup that they always seemed so likely to win. They were favourites in this game and likely would have been in all of the ones to come. That didn't matter to Croatia as they fought harder than before to eliminate the 5 times winners.
