Senegal Beat Equador To Qualify For The Knockout Stage
The lions of Teranga roared twice on Tuesday night as they beat Equador 2-1 in their last Group A match .
This much deserved win secured Aliou Cisse side a place in the round of 16 after finishing second in their group behind Netherlands with 6 points ,just a point from the Dutch.The African champions were deservingly the better team as they brought their A game to Equador who were not very impressive as they were in their first opening games.
Led by Ismaila Sarr who converted the penalty in the 44th minute after he was taken down in the 18 yard area.
Moises Caicedo levelled for Ecuador after the break before Koulibaly's winner sent Senegal through to the knockout stage.
Senegal have reached the knockout stage at a World Cup for the first time since their run to the quarter-finals back in 2002.Senegal will play England on Sunday in the second round of 16 match.
England who has never been beaten by an African side were able to overcome their neighbors Wales as they sent them packing back to the UK with a much deserved 3-0 win in their group B match.
Manchester united star,Marcos Rashford opened the scoresheet with a superb goal from a freekick just minutes after the break before Phil Foden doubled their lead only 98seconds later.
Rashford then sealed the deal with a brilliant one man goal to book England a spot in the knockout stage.
In other matches,USA beat Iran 1-0 to book them a date with Netherlands on Saturday round of 16 match.

Iran only needed a draw after winning their previous match against Wales but USA were too much for them and went past them to be second in the group after the Netherlands with 5points.Elsewhere,Cody Gakpo made it 3 goals in 3 matches as he broke the deadlock in the first half for the Netherlands and Frankie de Jong scored the second in the second half to ensure that they finish top of the table.
Qatar became the first host team to loose all the three group matches.
