France Denied Last Group Joy As Tunisia Enjoys The Last Laugh

The defending champions were unable to record a 3 of 3 wins in their group games as Tunisia beat them 1-0 in the last match of Group D.


However this loss doesn't interfere with their round of 16 spot as they already booked a date into the knockout stage after winning two opening matches against Australia and Denmark.

France finished on top of group D with 6 points followed by Australia also 6 points but two goals short from them.

Tunisia will be forced to go home after finishing third with 4 point despite their unexpected upset to the french.

Wahbi Khazri goal in the 57th minute was enough to give the north African side all the three points but wasn't enough to get them to the knockout stage.They will surely leave the world cup with their head up high after beating the defending champions.

Australia,having finished second after beating Denmark 1-0 thanks to Mathew Leckie goal in the 60th minute will face Argentina on Saturday (kick-off 7pm), who finished top of Group C after a 2-0 victory against Poland.


France will play Poland in the round of 16 as they look to make it to the world cup finals for the second consecutive times.

Elsewhere,Mexico 2-1 win against Saudi Arabia was not enough to save them from elimination.

The Mexicans has been very impressive in this edition of the tournament but were only able to gain 4points(same as Poland) however the polish team were superior on goal difference.

Saudi Arabia failed to impress after their only upset win against Argentina hence they will also board the next plane back to Riyadh having got only 3points and finishing bottom of the group.

Canada vs Morocco at 6pm EAT.

Belgium vs Canada at 6pm EAT.

Coat Rica vs Germany at 10pm EAT.

Japan vs Spain at 10pm EAT.

The World Cup of shocks continued on Friday as wily Croatia dumped favourites Brazil out on penalties. Brazil are gone, out of the World Cup that they always seemed so likely to win.
