Ghana Stuns South Korea To Revive Their Hope In World Cup

Mohammed Kudos scored a brace to help Ghana beat South Korea 3-2 in a highly contested Group H match.


The black stars lost narrowly to Portugal in a controversial group H opener where Ghanians felt they were robbed by awarding christiano Ronaldo a penalty hence coming to the Koreans game with a must win mentality.

South Koreans started the match with alot of pace in the opening minutes but they were calmed down with a superb header by Mohamed Salisu in the 24th minute from a Jordan Ayew's curling free kick.

Ghana had another 10 minutes later after Ayew whipped in another superb delivery from the left and the faintest of headers from Mohammed Kudus doubled the Black Stars' lead.

South Korea, who finished fourth at the 2002 finals and began with a useful 0-0 draw against Uruguay, hit back with two headers from Cho Gue-sung in quick succession to draw level after the break.

But Ghana, the lowest-ranked side in the competition at 61st in the world, regained the lead in the 68th minute when Kudus side-footed home his second from Gideon Mensah's cross.

Kudus became the first Ghanaian player to score a brace at the world cup .


Ghana will play Uruguay in their last group match as they look to revenge against suarez and the team following their elimination in 2010 quarter final.

Other matches 

Cameroon drew 3-3 with Serbia in a mouth watering group G clash.

Both teams gained their single points and are on the edge as they go for their last match.

Cameroon will play Brazil who have already qualified to the knockout stage after winning their second matches in succession while Serbia will try to square it against Switzerland who are placed second in the group with three points.

Brazil beat Switzerland with a solo goal from Casemiro to fire them into the knockout stage.

In another match, Portugal booked their spot at the round of 16 with a game to spare after hammering Uruguay 2-0.

Bruno Fernandes brace ensured that the Portuguese got their sweet revenge against Uruguay who eliminated them in 2018.
