Equador Humbles Host Qatar At The 2022 World Cup Inaugural Match.

 Enner Valencia scored a first-half brace as Ecuador beat hosts Qatar to kick off the planets ultimate game with an impressive 2-0 win in the opening game of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Valencia would have carried the match ball back to his hotel room were it not for the VAR that ruled out his early header for a marginal offside call against teammate Michael Estrada.
However,the 33 yearly old did not wait too long to celebrate after winning and coolly converting a 16th-minute penalty.He became the first player in his country's history to score four goals in World Cup finals, and he made it five after the half-hour mark, heading home Angelo Preciado's wonderful right-wing cross.

Felix Sanchez's side were not only beaten 2-0 but also failed to register a single shot on target against Ecuador and the gulf in class between the two sides was painfully evident during a particularly one-sided first half.

The horrendous show displayed by the host especially in the first half become unbearable to some Qatar fans with a number of seats left empty long before the full time whistle.After all the hype and controversy before the long awaited tournament,the opening night of Qatar 2022 ultimately fell flat especially to the host.

With last night's loss, Qatar became the first host nation in world cup history to lose their opening fixture.

Their debut clearly didn't go as expected as they now focus on the second fixure this friday when they return to actions against the lions of Teranga,Senegal.

Equador will face Netherlands in their second fixture.With their solid 4-4-2 and clinical captain,they look like a team to worry about in this tournament.

Today's fixture

England play Iran at 4pm EAT.

Senegal versus Netherlands at 7pm EAT.

United States against Wales at 10pm EAT.

The World Cup of shocks continued on Friday as wily Croatia dumped favourites Brazil out on penalties. Brazil are gone, out of the World Cup that they always seemed so likely to win.
