CHELSEA!! CHAMPIONS AGAIN!

Chelsea kickstarted the season with victory against Villarreal in the UEFA Super Cup final on Wednesday night,at the Windsor Park in Belfast.
Blue was the colour at the northern ireland after Thomas Tuchel’s side picked up another piece of European silverware by beating La Liga opponents Villarreal 6-5 on penalties. 
Hakim Ziyech's opener in the 27th minute was cancelled by Gerard Moreno's equaliser in the 90th minute pushing the game into extra time and eventually penalty shootout.
Chelsea did a tactical substitution with goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga coming onto the pitch in the final stages of extra time to replace number one Edouard Mendy. The Spaniard justified  the decision by saving  a decisive penalty giving the blues the much needed win.
This win means that the Chelsea boss,Thomas Tuchel is doing wonders with the blues after taking over as the manager in January.
In this short time he has taken Chelsea to the FA final,won the Eufa champions league and the super cup,wow what a run.
When interviewed after the game,this is what he had to say.

Thomas Tuchel: 
"It was tough, 120 minutes out of more or less nothing. We were very strong in the first 30/35 minutes. We lost a bit easy balls after our goal. Second half we were too passive, they equalised and deserved. We gave everything til the 120 minute. We deserved to win."

on Super Cup win:
 "Mentally it is a good one but physically it is the worst because we have to play Saturday afternoon but winning a trophy helps!"

On Edouard Mendy: 
"Mendy put his ego aside. He was aware, this is key, that it wasn't a sudden idea from the manager of the sidelines. It was planned and openly discussed with the goalkeepers.".

Chelsea will start their league campaign with an home game at Stamford Bridge ,hosting Crystal palace on Saturday.

Chelsea's new signing Romelu Lukaku will not play this weekend following the quarantine rules but he will be cleared to play against Arsenal in the blues next fixture.
Hakim Ziyech is also ruled out with an injury suffered in the final and will be out for a  month having dislocated his shoulder in the first half of the clash.

The World Cup of shocks continued on Friday as wily Croatia dumped favourites Brazil out on penalties. Brazil are gone, out of the World Cup that they always seemed so likely to win. They were favourites in this game and likely would have been in all of the ones to come. That didn't matter to Croatia as they fought harder than before to eliminate the 5 times winners.
